What it replaces
The counting table, on paper, reconciled twice
Most churches count cash on a printed sheet, write the total in a book, then capture it again into accounting — three chances to disagree, and no record of who counted what.
A register opens against a date and a service, giving lines are captured per member or anonymously, and the physical notes and coins are counted on the same screen. When the totals agree, one person commits it — and the money appears in Cash Reconciliation and the Income & Expenditure statement without anyone re-typing a figure.
Counted against the cash
Enter the quantity of each note and coin. The sheet totals itself and flags immediately if it disagrees with what was recorded against members.
Three-person sign-off
Counted by, verified by and confirmed as correct by — printed on every page, so a page separated from the set still carries its authorisation.
Posts itself, once
Committing a register writes it to the ledger and Cash Reconciliation together. No second capture, and no way for the two to drift apart.
Corrections stay honest
A committed register is never edited in place. Amend Register creates an audited correction recording what changed and why.
Numbered per financial year
Document numbers run in an unbroken series against your own financial year, with your own prefix, so nothing goes missing unnoticed.
Tied to the service
Each register records which service the cash came from, drawn from your own schedule — including one-off services like Christmas Day.

Where it goes next
One capture, four places
The moment a register is committed, the same figures appear in Cash Reconciliation, in the Income & Expenditure statement, in the Generosity Group giving view per member, and against the Annual Budget for that income category. Nothing is entered twice, so nothing can disagree.
Members who gave toward an approved programme also flow through to Section 18A receipting, where their tax certificate can be produced for the year without going back through the registers by hand.
